Captain Roy Heverly
Welcome and thank you for visiting our site. I am the son of Ken and Libby Heverly, the youngest of four brothers Kennie, Carl and David, and the father of two fine young men Hunter and Fisher.
My parents owned and operated The Emerald Isle Fishing Pier so as a child I grew up fishing and surfing at the pier. I had the privilege to learn from the "Old Timers" how to catch fish and when I wasn't fishing I could be found surfing the shore break with my brothers and the local crew. As a child that is pretty much all that I did during the summers (surf and fish). That was the good old days.
When I graduated from High School I began teaching surf lessons and commercial fishing during the summer breaks from college. I started a live bait business in 1983 and still enjoy catching bait for others to this day. The bait business has allowed me to work with some of the best captains on the entire East Coast and I have continued to learn new fishing techniques.
I still enjoy surfing as much as ever and look forward to catching the next swell with my kids, brothers and who ever else is lucky enough to get out there.
I consider myself very fortunate to have been raised here in Emerald Isle and love sharing the good life with others. I invite you to join us and look forward to the adventure.

Hello and welcome the the Crystal Coast. I've lived in Emerald Isle my entire life. Whether it was surfing, fishing, kayaking, or playing in the sound I've spent most my life in and on the local waters. I love living on the island and can't wait to share my experience with our costumers.
I was very active growing up and participated on many different sports teams. I began traveling for surf competitions when I was in 6th grade. Since then I've traveled the world surfing and it has given me unforgettable memories. I've competed from Florida to New York and all over California. I've surfed Hawaii, Australia, Indonesia, Nicaragua, and many other destinations.
After working at Surf Sessions Surf Camps in California I realized that being able to share surfing with people who have never surfed is very rewarding. I look forward to sharing my knowledge with you and helping you enjoy and appreciate your time in the water.
